Bicycles...Man's New Best Friend

I really like Ali Freeman's submission, "Theater of the Oppressed".  It inspired this post.

Having grown up in a small, rural town in the Caribbean, and drawing a bit of insight from history, I know how central, "squares" are to small communities.  They are built and designed around them.

Moreover, I know that the engagement of youth in society, particularly young men and women,  are imperative aspects of social and economic development in urban and rural communities.

I wonder if there might be a way to build upon bicycle delivery systems as a means of getting the message out, employing youth, and inviting their participation in the political process and society at large...

Could partnerships with different bicycle companies create healthy competition and engagement around a slew of other issues...sustainability, health and wellness, improved access, etc...?

Hi Sasha, welcome to OpenIDEO and cheers for your provocation here. Bicycles were also an important theme in our Vibrant Cities Challenge, which just ended recently. I like how you've picked up on the fact that bikes bring people together and could be a way to invite and inspire election participation in a community. Be sure to hold on to this for our upcoming Concepting phase!
