Apps have allowed people who are blind to replace more expensive, single-purpose devices with cheaper (often better) apps that run on their mobile phones. The first video shows the LookTel object recognition app in action. It speaks aloud the name of objects it identifies and allows users to add a voice note to "tag" an object. The second video shows the LookTel Money Reader in action. Some currencies, like the US dollar, are not accessible, because they are all of the bills are the same size. This app recognizes currency in many different denominations including the US Dollar, Euro, British Pound, Canadian Dollar, and Australian Dollar. The third video shows how these apps compare to specialized devices.
