I recently came back from a Habitat for Humanity - Global Village trip outside  Pokhara, Nepal. It was amazing how helping to build these homes affect everyone from me to my teammates to the families receiving the homes to the community where we built them.

I had said after some travel that it was like Miranda Lambert's song "The House That Built Me," or The House That Built Us. It wasn't so much we came there to build those homes but the homes built us. We grew as individuals, as teammates, and as a community all getting our hands equally dirty.

What I'm trying to say is maybe enticing the community to come together and help build something, in turn would help these struggling areas to build themselves. It's amazing how a project worked on as a team can change a person perspective and give them hope that change can happen.
