The Bureau of Doing Something About It

Bruce Mau Design responds to the Toronto Complaints Choir with a pop-up studio in downtown Toronto. Mission? Design a solution to each and every of the over 1,000 complaints shared by the Choir. A whimsical and fun example of a design field office.

Sometimes designers are anxious to take problems back to their cave where they can contemplate a problem and perfect a solution for everyone to adore. The Bureau of Doing Something About It accomplishes a lot of things (as the designers explain in the video), but what inspires me most is the commitment to discussing and solving problems "at ground level", in full view and in collaboration with the people the problems impact the most.

This is really great! What a brilliant name. Fab for designers to see that their skills are well poised to curate conversations and incite impact.

Truly whimsical! And whimsy is a powerful stimulant for the imagination.
Links well with Ana's 'Let people complain' and the UIB too.
