Garden State Urban Farms (GSUF) successfully grows vegetables and herbs in innovative, high yield container boxes on previously abandoned lots.

Earthboxes (commercial Sub Irrigated Planters) are cheap, highly productive, conserve water and fertilizers, portable, scalable, and eliminate problems with contaminated urban soils. They can be used to create instant farms in vacant urban lots. The farms can be easily dismantled and moved if necessary.
