EXPLAIN YOUR IDEA

On the international space station all water is recycled and turned into drinking water. A similar system could be installed in central locations and clean water dispensed. See video https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=2&v=BCjH3k5gODI All trash could be transformed using plasma tech as shown in diagram above. "Using the Plasma system of waste disposal would offer tremendous benefits. The main differences between a simple bonfire and a waste incineration plant are: 1) the waste is burned in a closed container at extremely high temperatures (to destroy as many toxic chemicals as possible); 2) pollution from the smokestack (chimney) may be trapped and "scrubbed" clean before it's released (using an electrostatic smoke precipitator); 3) a very tall smokestack is used, (theoretically) to disperse any remaining pollution in the wind; and 4) the energy released by burning the waste is captured and used to boil water, drive a steam turbine, and generate electricity." The streets could be lined with the newly designed solar capture panels that would provide all their energy needs, cleanly and greenly. See video for info https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlTA3rnpgzU These systems work.

WHO BENEFITS?

All the people living on the planet. People everywhere would have access to clean water, be encouraged to recycle all trash and waste by being paid per pound. It would also be a motivation for people to keep their cities clean and litter free because all litter would have a cash value and provide fuel for the plasma system. The solar streets would provide all green energy and diminish carbon output dramatically.

HOW DOES YOUR IDEA TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE CONTEXT OF URBAN SLUMS AND CLIMATE CHANGE?

Most governments are currently working on developing these types of systems. If we lived on a spaceship, all these systems would be in place. The technology already exists and can be implemented anywhere. The cost is affordable. It takes regular people to join together to put these systems in place. It is a realistic solution.

Great to have you on board Pat and nice provocation on tapping into the future potential of plasma tech systems. It'll be interesting to see if some aspects of this technology have already been adapted on the ground. Looking forward to seeing more of you in this challenge!

Thank you Shane. They tried in vain to implement the system in Haiti but could not get past the problems within the bureaucracy to get it installed. It would have been a huge benefit there and proven the systems value many times over. In order to solve problems anywhere, honest people need to rise up and act for the benefit of not only themselves but for that of others. The best technology in the world cannot wipe out corruption. The teaching of values in schools and human rights must be done for students to learn respect. It is up to young people to learn how to build a better world that will survive the problems of today in order to realize a greater tomorrow. It's disheartening to think the solutions already exist to solve the problems of access to clean water, energy and education. We must see ourselves as global citizens of one planet and endeavor to create the will to stamp out poverty and corruption. It can be done. People just need to be taught how to work together to accomplish it.
