SLUM DWELLERS ASSOCIATIONS (SLUMDA)
We shall mobilize people and form Slum Dwellers Associations
EXPLAIN YOUR IDEA
The problem is that the people who stay in the slums find it hard to communicate to one another most especially about issues which affect them directly.Issues like eviction ,climate changes and its effect etc.My idea is forming forums where all the slum dwellers can communicate effectively to one another and solve issues that affect them. Its by forming Slum Dwellers Associations where every member of a slum must register. This a forum where every member of the slum can have an opportunity to say something and bring an idea that can help. This slum dwellers association will have a committee where every category of people are represented which makes it easy to get ideas or issues from those categories of people. In addition to that ,there will always be general meetings for all the slum dwellers in a given community. These slum dwellers associations start from the community up to the national level for recognition and fighting for their rights. These Slum Dwellers Associations can serve as an opportunity to discuss developmental issues.
The benefits are all the People who stay in the Slums. They will be heard by people who demolish the slums or sell to investors and leave them there. They will communicate well among themselves. It will be implemented in the slum areas in Uganda.
HOW DOES YOUR IDEA TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE CONTEXT OF URBAN SLUMS AND CLIMATE CHANGE?
This idea is supposed to be implemented in the slums and through the different avenues they will be communicate better with the government on how to develop and tackle the climate change effects when they arise. This also helps in coming up with guidelines in line with the government on how to settle in slums.
