Some of the electric energy used is Sunnyvale is based on a mix that includes a large portion based on production using natural gas, which is not as clean as natural gas

The goal would be to track the sources of all electric energy used in Sunnyvale and promote the use of a cleaner mix.

The PG&E 2017 power mix includes 24 % nuclear and 17 % natural gas. The goal would be to raise the nuclear portion and reduce the natural gas portion of the electric energy used in Sunnyvale.

My understanding is that Silicon Valley Clean Energy purchases electricity for the vast majority of Sunnyvale customers. The default product is considered carbon free—50% renewable sources (wind and solar) and 50% large hydro. Customers can also choose to upgrade to 100% renewable. https://www.svcleanenergy.org
