What specific problem(s) are you trying to address?

I would address the sense of vanity and hopelessness that many young adults face during these formative years. Many are already going through changes making them afraid and uncertain, so in creating a safe space for them this issue could be resolved. They can learn the rights they have, the resources available to them, and they would always have a place where they are welcome when problems arise.

What are some of your unanswered questions about the problem(s) you are working to address?

Will federal and state governments be cooperative with this concept? Will this concept be met with censure and violence from the culture it will take place in?

Explain Your Idea

My idea is creating programs for teens and adolescents in areas of conflict where this is a new concept. Not only would the participants have access to learning, resources, and protection when needed; but they would also be able to use different technologies and connect with others across the world that share their plight.

Name the three most important ways that your idea will address your identified problem(s).

Working in developing nations where the need is greatest. Working with adolescents as they go through their transition to adulthood. Building a network for the next generation.

How is your idea unique?

This concept will be new to many areas and will have a great impact.

Where will your idea be implemented?

  • Bangladesh
  • Ghana
  • Kenya
  • Lebanon
  • Rwanda
  • Syria
  • Uganda
  • Zimbabwe

What is the primary type of emergency setting where your innovation would operate?

  • Prolonged displacement
  • Community at risk of disaster

What is your organization's name?

Navigating Adolescence

Organizational Characteristics

  • International/global organization

What is the current scale of your proposed innovation?

  • Still in planning phase and does not exist yet

Experience in Implementation Country(ies)

  • No, not yet.

Expertise in Sector

  • Have not worked in sector, but excited to learn more.

What is your organizational status?

  • Not registered but plan to in the future.

What is the maturity of your innovation?

  • Early Stage Innovation: exploring my innovation, refining, researching, and gathering inspiration.

Malik,
This is a great idea! Is there anything that could be more detailed? It seems a little broad but I completely agree with the program. I can see that introducing this into placing that have never heard of it will have the most impact.
