Outernet broadcasts free data from space. Anything that is digital can be broadcast and then consumed in the browser of any Wi-Fi enabled phone. In refugee camps, getting access to quality data networks and the information required to fuel an effective school is an enormous challenge. What if you could simply point a satellite dish and immediately being receiving Khan Academy, Wikipedia, news, health information and much more? What if you didn't even need a dish? That is what we are working on at Outernet. We are already live on 3.5 continents and Radio Netherlands Worldwide is a partner that is already pushing information over Outernet targeted at Syrian refugees. Adding Outernet to this brainstorming process will allow other ideas to go further than the constraint of a working data or Internet connection.
Providing free courseware from space so that any device can become a classroom, allowing any structure to become a school.
Free data can be used uniquely in different refugee camps - it may provide courseware for a school or facilitate private learning.
