Creative Space Beirut (CSB) is a free school for fashion design enrolling students from low socioeconomic communities across Lebanon. CSB aims to make creative design education available to those who cannot afford to pursue an expensive degree in or outside Lebanon. Given this opportunity for free quality education, our students will become well-rounded individuals, equipped to remain in step with the advancement of society and to make valuable contributions to their own communities and to the world at large.

We run as a three-year, full time program. At the end of each year, the students produce garments that are showcased and sold in a public exhibition. 100 % of the proceeds are reinvested into the educational program. CSB enrolls students from diverse backgrounds within Lebanon. They commute to CSB from all corners of the country, including Palestinian refugee camps, Saida, and Bourj Hammoud.

Our growth is made possible through generous international partnerships. Mood Fabric store and fashion designers, Donna Karan, Derek Lam and Diane Von Furstenberg have donated textiles for students to use. In addition, Parsons The New School for Design NYC continues to support our initiatives. We also collaborate with various local designers who volunteer their time to teach our students weekly courses.

Since our founding, CSB has enrolled 16 students with 10 currently enrolled. We have held 5 exhibitions, including our first international exhibition in Kuwait and we have sold over 300 student designs. CSB has collaborated with dozens of local designers, NGOs, organizations, and more.

CSB was founded in June 2011 by Parsons the New School for Design graduate, Sarah Hermez, and her former Parsons professor, Caroline Simonelli. On June 22, 2012, CSB received official status as a Lebanese non-profit organization.
