Laurie Pickard is getting an MBA. But not in the usual way. She has set out on an adventure of obtaining one for free. She's has compared MBA programs, and learned what type of courses make up the best MBAs. With that knowledge, she has searched the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platforms to find equivalent courses. For free.
Yep, that's right: for free.
In some discussions in this research phase, we have talked about technology to make courses available, about the courses themselves, but also about certification, and what can refugees do, once they have obtained knowledge through high level courses. Even though I'm not a big fan, MBA degrees make people more employable. In other words, it's easier to find a job if you have an MBA.
Could the example of Laurie inspire us to find a way to help refugees obtain an MBA at virtually no costs? And how can we help refugees who have earned their MBAs to be found by companies that can employ them?
