Mobile phone app that increases learning, employment and other opportunities for refugees
Equipping refugees with relevant skills, information on employment opportunities among others via a mobile phone application.

EXPLAIN YOUR IDEA
Many refugees in different camps are unemployed and lack relevant vocational and technical skills to enable them start businesses or compete for employment opportunities. Through a simple mobile phone app that can be accessed on low-end mobile phones, relevant vocational and technical skills that lead to employment can be provided (Such as tailoring, hairdressing, entrepreneurship and technology skills among others); The content will be occasionally reviewed and updated to ensure that it meets the needs of users. Access to vocational skills alone is not enough, refugees need help with finding jobs. The app will allow them to get updates on available job opportunities that match their skills. Informal knowledge and skills from adults would also be shared via the app. In addition to these, language skills, as well as information on scholarship opportunities will be provided to those interested. As a way of giving back to the community, refugees who have completed higher education and have stable jobs will be encouraged to support the project in whatever way possible such as helping review the content, providing feedback or translating the content to local dialect.WHO BENEFITS?
I am targeting refugees at Kakuma camp, in Turkana county Kenya. The target age of beneficiaries is approximately 18 years and above. Organisations with employment opportunities and based near Kakuma also stand to benefit from the proposed solution. The solution will be easily scalable to other camps in different parts of the world.FEEDBACK
