Day workshops & support groups, like Challenge Day
small support groups, as in the Challenge Day concept ( http://www.challengeday.org )
EXPLAIN YOUR IDEA
By the hand gesture people show their support, love and compassion.
The idea of sharing and supporting in groups is not new. Is is done very well by Challenge Day, originally from the USA. There must be a clever set up, energetic start and the sharing of the leaders first to show how is it do 'drop the waterline'.
I do not know who will benefit from this, I think many people with a good understanding of group and individual therapy could write a program.
The idea already exists for over 25 years, and has proven itself. What is important is: how do you train the trainer if you would work with only local people. I think professionals should go to the camps to do the workshops and should not work with locals from the camps as leaders. They are part of the system and that is not beneficial to the process.
What you can do After the workshops is set days with smaller groups to come together to share and support, without a trainer from outside the camps.
I have done the Challenge Day workshop myself, it was overwhelming and amazing to see how a groups starts out as individuals and people being defensive, and after a day everybody is supportive, open, sad, honest, funny, empathic.
SKILL SHARE (optional)
I work as a coach myself, but for this kind of job you need partnerships. I think Challenge Day might be interested to support this kind of project too ( Rich and Yvonne Dutra st. John )
TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF
I am originally from The Netherlands and recently moved to London, United Kingdom. I used to work from Amsterdam in my practice as a creative coach.
Working on location in a refugee camp is beyond my possibilities at this moment.
