Empowering Refugee Social Innovators
Building social innovation skills of refugee youths and linking them with resources to implement their projects on ground
EXPLAIN YOUR IDEA
This idea adds value by empowering members of the refugee community to identify their own needs and design solutions to the challenges they face. It equips them with simple yet powerful tools to be a change agent in their communities and to change the stigma and victimized idea of the society towards the refugee community and provides them with effective tools that they can use anywhere and not only in Egypt, especially if they were able to go back to their countries and participate in rebuilding efforts.\
We can also do a global platform for refugee social entrepreneurs to exchange ideas, resources and be part of a global network of social entrepreneurs.
Refugees, host community, social enterprises
The idea is divided into three components: The first component is identification and selection of potential social innovators from the refugee communities through a series of workshops and interviews. A clear set of criteria will be developed to base our selection upon. In the second components, two services will be provided: first, social innovation capacity building for the selected participants through a partnership with top NGOs and social innovation enterprises that have the skills and expertise to design and implement social innovation capacity building programs; and second: One to one mentorship will be also provided by matching each of the participants with an experienced social entrepreneur. In the third phase: two services will be provided: first close mentoring and coaching for the participants to design a social project following the “Human Centered Design” approach to solve a challenge within their refugee community; and second: seed funding to be prototyped in community.
SKILL SHARE (optional)
