Community Leaders Kit
Inspired by the IDEO in a BOX, we could help leaderships in refugee camps through a basic kit that would help with this knowledge exchange
EXPLAIN YOUR IDEA
The main goal here is to empower the refugees to decide about the most needed skills in their community, help them get basic resources (videos, tools, guidance) and organise the best structure for their camp. Long-lasting changes can only come when we empower people to build their lives accordingly to their own values, priorities and reality. The purpose is help the already exhisting camp leaderships to act as facilitators that encourage people to share their knowledge. The community should meet and set their own priorities, decide who could lead each class based on experience. Once they have a basic list, the set could be assembled, with information on practical skills required, and links to successful initiatives in each domain around the world (such as Reevo), basic information to enable them navigating (specially to find tools to help learn languages and learn new skills). The kit can be customized according to each camp's priorities: adult litteracy, technologic tools (internet basics), practical skills (sewing, building, fixing, etc.), TED videos, etc.
This is an attempt to create a customizable kit, this time focused on adults living in those communities.
Here's a scratch/moodboard I've made at Prezi: http://prezi.com/zpx6f6fmxhph/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy&rc=ex0share
This is just the beginning of the idea, it is here to evolve with comments of those interested in helping communities build self-determined ways to share their knowledge in order to make life better in refugee camps and also on their new host countries.
SKILL SHARE (optional)
This idea is meant to inspire, though I would like to help building it if someone takes if forward. Here's a moodboard for that:
TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF
I work as consultant in innovation and entreprenurship, and I want to work with projects that use education to help refugees, and non refugees connecting and building collective knowledge with their communities an other communities as well, build better solutions and advance faster.
IS THIS AN IDEA THAT YOU OR YOUR ORGANIZATION WOULD LIKE TO TAKE FORWARD?
This idea is meant to inspire - I hope someone else takes it on.
