EXPLAIN YOUR IDEA

Through feedbacks obtained on the idea about Reevo and based on the already existing Facebook for Africans and Syrians refugees in Egypt (see the "Inspired by" section), this idea intends to propose a one stop shop for refugees connect with working/training opportunities. Another inspiration came from a comment on Reevo's idea, the website for9a.com/en.

WHO BENEFITS?

The idea benefits Africans and Refugees in Egypt on job searching, as well as on inform them about studying and training opportunities. The core idea is to build a brigde where refugees can get informed about how to work, study, get into Egyptian society.

PROTOTYPE

How could we imagine a platform for refugees in Egypt find all the relevant information regarded to work, study, training and skills development?

FEEDBACK

Check the attachment with the questions about the Facebook page created by Mirette for refugees in Egypt

SKILL SHARE (optional)

Any skill share is welcome! The most important help will be the support to implement. How might we implement a platform for refugees in Egypt?

TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF

Curious, hardworking, dreamer, traveler, globaltrotter. Always looking for something to learn!

IS THIS AN IDEA THAT YOU OR YOUR ORGANIZATION WOULD LIKE TO TAKE FORWARD?

  • Yes, and I am looking for a partner working with refugee communities to implement this idea.

Great article. I've been learning arabic skype at http://preply.com/en/arabic-by-skype and I totally agree that a great platform means an effective way of doing things.

Hi André,

I thought of the same idea a few weeks ago, and am cooking up something "right now" (aside from work and an other side project...) probably we should connect... to streamline the projects and combine resources.

In the mean time can I guess I can inoculate upon some of the textual fabric you present here. I really appreciate it, cause it accelerates the process. I hate writing...

Hi!

I would love to join your skype call. My email is dinabokai@gmail.com

Also, you might want to consider linking to MOOCs for training. At Edraak.org we have a set of Arabic MOOCs on job search strategies, interview skills and CV writing that are developed in collaboration with Bayt.com. You could even pilot teaching these MOOCs offline.

Be sure to check out www.edraak.org

Hi Dina and welcome to the team. I definitely know For9a, and I usually repost opportunities from their blog that are open for refugees in Egypt. I guess the reason why we started it on a national rather than regional level is first to build on something already existing which the FP platform for opportunities for refugees in Egypt https://openideo.com/challenge/refugee-education/ideas/linking-refugee-communities-with-existing-training-study-and-work-opportunities

And the other reason is that you want to monitor how effective this platform is, and I believe monitoring this on a national level (especially if you have someone working on grounds) will be so much easier than on a regional or global level. But definitely if it proved to be a success, it can easily widen its scope to a regional level.

Hi Andre,

I like how this is developing. But why not expand to refugees in the Middle East or all over the world, instead of Egypt only?

Hi Dina,
we are thinking now in Egypt as Mirette is already working there with a Facebook page and from feedbacks, we forwarded to how we might create a platform based on the work she's been doing. I can't say for all the team now, as we still need to talk (we'll skype on 15th may). Focus in Egypt is way to start small and test.
As you introduced another idea with that website and know the reality of refugees in other countries, there's no reason to not consider. Any suggestion, sketch, draw... you can send to be discussed on this idea.
