An Intuitive Design For Bins for effective segregation?

What if bins and designs are made more intuitive for the consumers to segregate their trash without any effort?

The article that I am citing says the bin they designed increased the rate of recycling by 34% . I would want to know more about what they mean by the rate. 
Anyways,this gave me an insight to using good design which is intuitive for users and will eventually help build up good practices.
This specific bin has holes according to the size of the trash that needs to go in .

Definitely helps for those that are not as educated on recycling and helps with many problems due to single stream recycling
