We help to label your waste before you throw them

We know there are different kinds of trash bins out there, which are divided into recycling, food & yard waste and garbage. The government will handle them with different measures. But the problem is, many of ordinary people do not very clear of how to divide the thing they about to throw. So we provide a way to help people to do that in the most convenient way: we put a label marked which kind of trash bin they belong to on the products, so the citizens could know where to throw them when they buy them.

Explain your idea in one sentence

We put a label marked which kind of trash bin they belong to on the products, so the citizens could know where to throw them when they buy them.
We can cooperate with the many companies on the market, and convince them to put a label on their products marked out which kind of trash bin we should throw it to. All though it is just an advise, but it is also like a kind of reminder when people throw it out that they should do some divide job. I think that with a reminder and a construction about trash, it will surely be very helpful for the recycling.

Describe how your idea would help form new habits and improve recycling at home

Put a label on the product is not just an advise, but also like a kind of reminder when people throw it out that they should do some divide job in everyday life. I think that with a reminder and a construction about trash, it will surely be very helpful for the recycling.

How might you design an early, lightweight experiment to further develop your idea?

We could do some survey, maybe some questionnaire to see people's reply about the idea.

Like this idea! Its so hard to match up trash to the proper trash bin.

One other thing is to have a standardised way of differentiating trash. Reading some of the entries from the research phase, different places have different ways of categorising trash. So even if you do get the big brands to label their packaging, it can still be confusing :(

And I found the entry of different cities having different means of identifying trash: http://www.openideo.com/challenge/recycle-challenge/research/it-s-a-branding-and-design-matter
