it is time to truly recycle manufacturing scrap to make new performance products that do not again just form the next waste issue after usage

it is time for the first step towards a more circular economy by not just using the recycling material, but by using the material to make a recycling product

it is time to think about the product's end of life even if it is already made from recycling materials

from nike's mixed apparel textiles scrap new regenerated fibers can be produce from cotton while the synthetic fibers can be recycled as plastic raw material

therefore the design challenge is to develop a separation and sorting system to enable the true recycling process

Which Nike Grind materials will your idea utilize?

  • Mixed Apparel Textile

How specifically will these materials be incorporated into your solution?

Please include a visual (can be either 2D or 3D) representation/prototype of your concept. (required)

quick view on the circular system

What is the current stage of development of your idea?

  • Research & Early Testing

Describe your target market. Who will benefit from your product?

the reduction of waste streams and recycling of fibers will benefit the fiber production itself and of cause in the over-all outcome it will benefit the environment through reduced resource needs. a well-working circular business will generate benefit for all its stakeholders.

How will you scale your idea? Please describe in detail your plan to scale your concept.

in order to create a circular economy, businesses need to be connected and previously disregarded stakeholders need to be enabled to participate.

How is your idea innovative?

a transformation of our economical system in order the save earth's resources

What inspired this idea?

the need for change and the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2050, that I believe, every business should be part of

Tell us about yourself and your team. What is your background and experience?

I am an industrial design student with an excellent eye for detail as well as holism. I am eager to learn and I have a genuine interest in sustainability. In my work process I focus on material experiments and strong concepts.

In what city are you located?

Halle (Saale)

In what country are you located?

Germany

Please describe how becoming a Top Idea will support the growth of your concept.

I would like to tackle a real problem and gain more experience in collaboration with businesses as well as find support in my current textile recycling project.

Hi Rike,

Great to see this concept in the Challenge! I'm curious if you could provide more context for the photo in the question, "How specifically will these materials be incorporated into your solution?" What might some use cases for the material be?

A reminder the final submission deadline is today at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Tiem.

Excited to learn more!
