Which Nike Grind materials will your idea utilize?
EVA Foam Sheets & Blocks
Laminated PU Foam
Mixed Apparel Textile
Footwear Fiber "Fluff"
How specifically will these materials be incorporated into your solution?
By order of inner to outer layers in how they form:
Both ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam sheets and laminated polyurethane (PU) foam, aka polyfoam, are intended to be the base of the multi-functional portable shelter. A stress-crack resistant material, EVA foam will serve as a firm inner layer, upon which a layer of laminated PU foam will lay. This combo heretofore will be known as the "base layer".
Polyfoam is akin in chemical composition to memory form, "except polyfoam compresses under pressure and holds the body up, while memory foam softens when pressure or heat is applied." (Source: https://bit.ly/2HGDwmx). Between EVA foam sheets and polyfoam, we're confident that the base will serve as a comfortable mattress.
Next, footwear fiber “fluff” will serve as an insulation layer on top of one side of the base layer (i.e. the side meant to be the "inside" of the mattress). We anticipate adding about a half-inch of fluff. This could increase or decrease in millimeters as we figure out the right layer height that would allow the sleeping bag/tent to fold
Then, mixed apparel textile will wrap everything together, serving as the outer layer.
Finally, rubber flashings will be interwove with the mixed apparel textile, for both aesthetic and functional purposes. The fluorescent material acts as a reflector to counteract low visibility. They will only be visible when the portable shelter is folded up.
Please include a visual (can be either 2D or 3D) representation/prototype of your concept. (required)
What is the current stage of development of your idea?
Describe your target market. Who will benefit from your product?
We discussed plans to target consumers who are into outdoor sports and camping. With each purchase, we donate a sleeping bag to the intended community, i.e. the homeless population in Los Angeles. This "buy-one-donate-one" model will offset cost of labor in producing these tents.
