This Circular Meditation Cushion is designed for meditators and the growing interest in meditation for athletes (think Nike), among many others that find the practice important to being and feeling well.
Reuse & Recycle: The design itself is circular, which represents a core principle; it can be sent back to create a fresh cushion, or utilized in other products that incorporate Nike Grind materials. The initial product is not the end, it is the start of a multi-cycle journey of providing benefit as a product. It is for the mindful consumer, the type of individual that wants to do their best when making a purchase, whatever it may be.
The cushion is crafted almost entirely of raw Nike Grind materials, with little to zero manipulation or need for further manufacturing. The only material that needs to be potentially sourced outside of the Grind materials is the thread (which will be sourced from 100% recycled polyester).
This product utilizes the following Nike Grind materials:
- Mixed Apparel Textile
- Footwear Fiber "Fluff"
- Rubber Granulate
- Laminated EVA Foam (potentially)
- Laminated PU Foam (potentially)
Individuality & Connectedness: Each cushion is unique, just like the individual that sits upon it. It is also 100% recycled, reused, or reclaimed, representing the connectedness of the environment we all inhabit. The product is the story.
The Nike Connection: With the understanding that this proposal is to create a business separate from Nike, there is great potential for Nike to be in the meditation 'space'. Considering the recent pairing of the Headspace meditation app and Nike, along with Michael Martin's (Global Head of Digital Products) recognition of the importance of Mindfulness in athletes, it becomes relatively clear where this can all go: all sports Nike supports and all individuals that are aligned with the brand.
