Well since we are producing beanbags since 2013 so we already have tested it's feasibility in the market locally.. and by entering the contest we would like to expand which will lead to increase using those grinds (kindly check our instagram).
As we also have our indoor and outdoor fabrics to fulfill all needs.. people are loving those trendy beanbags.. and i think if they can have the logo of your esteemed company on.. this will give it more value and sells more beanbags while keeping their price affordable. you guys gonna love the spongy feeling of them .. so how come if they are filled with those comfy nike grinds.. while my other idea comes from my interior side.. i can turn those grains into something beautiful and modern that could be implemented in all nike shops worldwide

Company / Organization Name (if applicable)

Website (if applicable)

Which Nike Grind materials will your idea utilize?

  • Rubber Outsoles
  • Rubber Flashings
  • Rubber Granulate
  • EVA Foam Injection Scraps
  • EVA Foam Flashings
  • EVA Foam Sheets & Blocks
  • EVA Foam Components
  • Laminated EVA Foam
  • Laminated PU Foam
  • Mixed Apparel Textile
  • Mixed Footwear Textile
  • Footwear Fiber "Fluff"
  • Full Grain Leather Scraps
  • Split Leather Scraps Coated
  • Synthetic Leather

How specifically will these materials be incorporated into your solution?

Those Grinds will be splitted upon their texture.. then we will be using the fluffy spongy parts as a filling for those beanbags .. while rest of materials wil be used in my second idea in an esthetic way by reusing nike grinds we will be solving 2 problems that i personally always think about, first: usual EPS beans shrinks after being used and mainly they are not biodegradable so by using ur grinds we will be saving on the environment more than 400/500 kilos of EPS yearly Second problem which is more an issue to solve: those furniture will be a wood free item and thats our main aim.. so by making those beanbags a popular item to buy, wood consumption will be reduced and replaced with this circular Nike innovative challenge

Please include a visual (can be either 2D or 3D) representation/prototype of your concept. (required)

Those funky beanbags will be the newest addition for the same target of clinets that Nike brand is directed to and more... by using those grinds we will be creating a comfier cheaper seats.

What is the current stage of development of your idea?

  • Operating Concept / Startup

Describe your target market. Who will benefit from your product?

Our beanbags are mainly targeted to teenagers (bedrooms/game rooms) young couples and outdoor areas such as pools, private and public gardens plus resorts.

How will you scale your idea? Please describe in detail your plan to scale your concept.

Meanwhile we are working on reducing our costs as much as possible by not having a physical location instead we display in other shops as consignment and moving from mall to mall to raise popularity., up untill i get the right opportunity i am willing to completely change the operation in accordance to whatever demand i have. Currently my business is based on a demand driven mentality and if i was to win the contest.. then i have a bunch of other option of how i can scale

How is your idea innovative?

First idea: We are always looking for comfort in our seats, and what offers more comfort than a beanbag. i would think if those beanbags can be found everywhere either in Nike stores and all beanbags suppliers.. this will give a good impact on the environmental issue by creating a wood free seats.. beds.. living rooms ..hammocks Second idea: also my other idea consists on using those grinds in the design of ur Nike stores.. a unique special design will looks.

What inspired this idea?

We always think that there is something missing from the market and as interior designers.. we came up with those stylish beanbags.

Hi Ahmed Salam ,

Great to see you in the Challenge! I’m excited to learn more about how you can scale your beanbag idea with Nike Grind materials. To understand more about how you might utilize the materials you've selected in your final product, could you please provide a few paragraphs to the question "How specifically will these materials be incorporated into your solution?" Be as specific as possible about how the Nike Grind materials you've selected could be processed to create your final product. What would the steps be?

Additionally, I did want to ensure you were aware that the goal of this challenge is not to source concepts that Nike would bring to market under their own brand. Rather, the goal of this Challenge is to support innovators in creating their own products and ventures using Nike Grind materials, but independent of Nike, with the potential for partnership.

Tagging in additional folks we'd encourage you to connect with and provide feedback on one another's concepts Tanushri Shukla , Xinyu Wang , Kaiwei Cheng .

Excited to learn more!

Dear Lauren Ito
Since you are from Openideo team.. i would have to ask two questions please! Why i wasn't able to receive msgs as comments and applauds of people in my inbox from this challenge .. and since up to 30 contributions.. why only 16 ideas for now and those selected ideas doesn't fulfill their main purpose under Evaluation criteria that they should at first consume a significant amount of Nike grind materials! For example a comfy beanbag or a laptop case or floor tiles as those two mentioned moved to refinement phase! A beanbag would consume 6 to 9 kg of grinds..
Well we all friends and team shocked from the ideas chosen.. are they the final ones

Happy to hear from you
