Providing motivation for the kids to work out at home instead of setting long time playing game on phone or tablet.

What problem are we trying to solve?

Kids betweens the ages of 7-12 are becoming less physically active in developed and developing countries. The lack of physical activity is a combination of poor dietary, sedentary behaviors, busy parents, limited space at home, little to no physical education at school. Making awareness about how importance to teach the kids to get exercise in early age will help to avoid health issues (such as obesity or diabetes) when they grow up.

We identified the problems based on our daily observation and research. We still need to prove it by doing more extensive research. Below we list the problems that cause lack of physical activity for kids:

-Kids don’t want to workout
-Lack of mentorship
-Lack of physical activity
-Low economic status
-Too many distractions
-Parents are busy or not physically fit themselves

How are we trying to solve this problem?

By creating a Kid Fit Box Set. These box included : Interlock box that converts to a hopscotch/agility ladder, a small ball and adjustable jump rope. Also, playing cards will teach fitness routines in a fun and challenging game. All these equipments are going to be made from Nike Grind materials.

How does this product benefit customers? 

  1. Create awareness about health
  2. Motivation to get exercise every day for 10 minutes - 60 minutes depending on the kids fitness level
  3. Create positive habits to become active adults

Describe your target market. Who will benefit from your product?

Females and males kids between 7 and 12 years old around the world who do not go out a lot to do physical activity because their parents are busy or their parents do not workout. Therefore, they do not have awareness about the importance of working out. In addition, there are many skills has developed in the age between 7 and 12 years old like vision, transitional skills and understand sports strategies.

How will you scale your idea? Please describe in detail your plan to scale your concept.

What business opportunity does it create?.
- Encouraging kids to be active with fun challenging games
- Community/school level potential may bring these activities to school and assigned physical education homework at home
- Versatile and economic
- Exercises for development motors skills and eye coordination
- There is a lack of venues that geared towards exercise and integrating games at home. This equipment doesn’t take a lot space and it could be perform in small apartments. It doesn’t require a backyard. Al it will require is a small space.
- There are lack of places for the kids to encourages them to exercise and give tips to do exercise. Therefore, the kids need opportunities to refine their basic movement and coordination skills, including balance and the ability to run, climb, kick and catch.

How is your idea innovative?

We will rely on kids/parents/fitness professional feedback to improve the overall experience of the product and create the product that is enjoyable for kids in terms on long-term engagement with fitness. Engagement experience by adding playing cards that has visual picture presents what to do in each exercise using jumping rope, ball or an agility ladder. Kids challenge themselves with different levels, earn points, compete with family and friends.

What inspired this idea?

- Kids are becoming less active
- More time is spent on mobile phones and computers
- No daily physical education at schools
- Making awareness of fitness to avoid health issues
- We were inspired by both of our personal experiences, and the lack of physical education we received in school/home.

Tell us about yourself and your team. What is your background and experience?

We are team of two. We study Human Computer Interaction and our expertise in user experience design.
UX Designer/researcher: work on many usability testing for websites/web application and developer website interfaces.

- After testing the product, it would give the opportunity to improve based on the kids feedback and create more enjoyable experience to workout.
- Future design could include fitness app games.
