"Yanasu" means Friendly in quechua. 

Compostable cup with a friendly design, with a built-in grip system on 2 of its sides (protruding from the same cup), thus allowing to increase the degree of safety when catching it, thus exercising a minimum of pressure.

It facilitates the destabilization. With the same outstanding system is achieved that the barista, by removing it from the supplier's packages, can exercise a practical and fast action in the dispatch to the final customer (stacked cups do not lock together).

The material that is used, isolates the smell of printing ink and improves its adherence (drying to a shorter term and more efficient manufacturing production process).

The company that we works with meets all standards for the manufacture of food packaging required by the BPM, HACCP, BRC standards.

The use of a machine and material for both products, reduces much of the double logistics that is carried out to supply the means of agitation along the side cup.

Supply and retailer:

Using only the cup box saves storage space and packaging material.

It is not necessary to clean used agitators and coffee grounds in the vicinity of the container and countertops.

Our solution is focused on all types of users, but initially it is focused on those with greater ecological awareness.

How is your concept recoverable?

Yanasu cup are fully compostable. The time required for degradation can be as short as a few weeks up to a few months, according to the thickness of the finished product. It will degrade more rapidly in composting conditions, but even if it is thrown in the trash, or ends up in the oceans, it will degrade at a speed unmatched by conventional plastic, and the non-toxic blend of this bioplastic will not cause damage to wildlife or the environment.

How have you incorporated additional sustainability attributes (beyond recoverability) into your solution?

The material we use is not used in the current value chain on a large scale in the region, thus participating the circular economy. The production process has also been designed to minimize its impact on the environment, using as much untapped resources as possible from the value chain. The factory we work with meets all standards for the manufacture of food packaging required by the BPM, HACCP, BRC standards.

What regions do you plan to address with your solution (and how will you accomplish this)?

First, we are targeting in PerĂº, and the Latin American region. Production and marketing strategies can quickly adapt on a global scale. We plan to make an agreement with a local company that currently export cups to 5 countries in the region. This company will produce our cups.

Describe your target market. Who will benefit from your product?

The beneficiaries of our solution are baristas and cup users. Since it continues improvement in the design of the cup and storage of it.

Roberto is a teacher and works as a coordinator in an innovation project called "Learning Communities" Julio is a Graphic Designer in packaging production company. David and Gabriel are Roberto's children and they study in school.

An ordinary cardboard cup breaks down in the natural environment roughly in a year or thereabout. Approximately how the fallen leaves does, consisting of the same cellulose. In order for the new material for the production of cups to become a cost effective replacement of cardboard, it should decompose order faster, somewhere in a month, maybe two or three. This is at an average temperature of 15 degrees Celsius (according to NASA). But when we pour water near a boiling point, at a temperature of 95 degrees, into such cup , according to the rule of Svante August Arrhenius, all the chemical processes in it, including the self-decay of complex molecules, respectively, accelerate. The minimum acceleration will be somewhere 250 times, and the maximum will be about 65,000 times. That is, for a disposable cup that has been filled for at least an hour, and this is a real situation somewhere on a picnic, there is all the chances to pour out their content on the table at best , at worst, on himself or his electronic devices. Even if this cup was made a few days before that and was stored in a stock in perfect conditions.
