The Straw-less Beverage Cup

A cup that has an internal liquid delivery or drinking device built in, where its assembly forms part of or the complete of, as one piece with the beverage cup.

Being a liquid holding receptacle where it provides a ready-made drinking device used for the consumption of the beverage within.

The beverage may be hot, cold, frozen or any temperature between, but must be a flowable liquid of any consistency.

The Straw-less Beverage Cup is used as a device to drink beverages by removing the beverage contained within the beverage cup, without the need of another drinking straw like device.

The Straw-less Beverage Cup has a perpendicular integral straw built within the cup’s structure as one complete unit and attached to the inside or outside of the beverage cup.

The beverage cup and the Straw-less channel combination can be of but not limited to fibre board, cardboard, aluminum, milk board or any other food grade material used to construct and manufacture beverage receptacles or likewise container.

The Straw-less Beverage Cup has a mouthpiece that extends in an upwards direction of the container, siphons the beverage from the bottom of the cup, whilst still being attached to any part of the side of the beverage receptacle.

A mouthpiece end which is the upper portion detaches from the Straw Not Beverage Device, The lower portions of the liquid delivery or drinking straw device is still attached allowing the beverage to transfer from the beverage receptacle to the users mouth upon using a sucking action with the mouth. The beverage receptacle which has the liquid delivery or drinking straw device attached works

Cohesively as one the beverage cup accommodate the liquid or solid beverage in whatever form it is and/or secure a beverage within and permit contents to flow from one to another into the user’s mouth and consumed directly.

For example, the Straw-less Beverage Cup may be used for range of any different drinks but not limited to but may including coffee, milk products, sports drinks, dietary drinks, smoothies and frozen style drinks.

This solution addresses which of the following:

  • Hot / Cold Fiber Cup
  • Cup Lids
  • Straws
  • Other

How is your concept recoverable?

These fibre cups are 100% recyclable as are modern cups, the current process is the most basic method of recovery. One suggested method that I have also submitted is a barcode system where cups cun be returned to stores and a 10 cent deposit can be returned to the consumer off the price of a new beverage. Once returned to place of purchase or vendor of same program, the vendor arranges the recycling alternatively, the consumer can return it to a public recycling centre that many cities now have for their refund, along with their general recyclable deposit scheme run by their local council A phone app can be developed to work with an automatic deposit system in store. The consumer can deposit the cup in to the appropriate deposit station and, automatically refund the deposit on their next purchase. They may also retrieve a ticket from the deposit station in order to retrieve refunded discount off next purchase

How have you incorporated additional sustainability attributes (beyond recoverability) into your solution?

The cup should only be used by renewable sources, bio-degradable material and ethical means

What regions do you plan to address with your solution (and how will you accomplish this)?

This product could be used globally and in any region, looking after the environment is the world's problem.

What is the current stage of development of your idea?

  • Piloting

What are the biggest challenges you are facing today? What are existing gaps in your solution?

The main challenge we face is that smaller cup manufacturer can make these cups but additional modifications mean, I must raise additional capital to modify or purchase new suitable equipment. The cost of the needed equipment is not high but, small cup making machines will strain under new requirements.
