How the system works for the end consumer:
Instead of using a disposable cup or being dependent on your own reusable cup (that you've probably bought but end up forgetting at home all the time), the end consumer can ask for her drink in a RECUP. With lodging 1€ deposit at the coffee place, the consumer thereby can rent a reusable cup whenever he's in need for it, since RECUPs wait exactly where you need them. The clou: After having consumed your drink, you can return your RECUP either to the same store OR at any other participating shop that offers RECUP. With return you get back your deposit. Which shops participate in the system and offer/take back RECUPs can be found out either with the App, Website or Webapp or by looking out for RECUP-specific stickers that partners put on their entry door. Another benefit: With using RECUP, the end consumer gets a specific benefit (such as a discount on the price of the drink or a stamp on a bonus card) and doesn't have to take care of the cleaning of the cup.
The end consumer for now can only return his cups at partner stores, but we are currently working on other returning options (such as vending machines in super markets) as well.
How the system works for participating shops:
Shops that are interested in becoming part of our sustainability network may register effortlessly online with our platform and afterwards directly order their cups and marketing material with our online shop. If shops end up with too much cups (since they are situated in a way that more people bring cups back than take out), RECUP takes care of the redistribution of the cups. Ordering cups is for our partners a zero cost point, since they only rent the cups with us, which means they lodge the deposit with us, but afterwards have either the cup in their store (which we exchange for the lodged deposit if needed) or the 1€ deposit from the RECUP-users.
How the system works for RECUP:
REUSE, RETURN, RECYCLE! RECUPs are produced with our German manufacturer, can be used 1.000 times and (as soon as not appropriate anymore for such a sharing system) get returned to our manufacturer who takes care of the recycling and reintroduction of the material.
Regarding the business model, RECUP is not charging their customers the cups themselves (which we remain ownership of and only "lend" the cups), but asks participating shops for a system fee of 1€ per day and location.
This system fee is used to cover costs for 22 employees and a huge IT-backbone consisting of an online shop, a platform and an application.
