Please include a visual (can be either 2D or 3D) representation/prototype of your concept. (required)

The hard candy cups is made out of a cup mold. The taste can be flavorless or not according to the customer's interest.  OR we could add an edible plastic wrapping around the cup to add no flavor or to stop the cup from being too sticky. The reason we thought of hard candy because the cups would be edible and the plastic wrapping in it would be edible as well. We are thinking of creating different kinds of flavored cups according to the customers interest if they want flavored cups. There will also be cups with sugar added for sweetness or the cups with no sugar added at all. Also the cup would be a thick layer so it won't break easily and it won't dissolve when liquid added to it. Also our cup is also reusable if the cup is melted and molded back to the hape.

This solution addresses which of the following:

  • Other

How is your concept recoverable?

Our cup is edible instead of being thrown away. The to-go fiber cup is not recoverable. Our cup isn't really recoverable but it is edible. So technically it's not being thrown away. If people don't want the candy, it could be put in a tub of water to be dissolved, or it could be melted to reuse it again.

How have you incorporated additional sustainability attributes (beyond recoverability) into your solution?

The candy that we planned to use is natural candy with no artificial flavors added to it. If the candy is melted, it could be reused when made back to the shape. Also candy cups won't go bad so quick. It will take time for the cup to expire, maybe even take years.

What regions do you plan to address with your solution (and how will you accomplish this)?

We plan on sampling this type of cups in big cities and get feedback. We could also talk with the cup producing companies and use samples. We need to get to the big cities then go to more smaller cities then maybe even go international.

Describe your target market. Who will benefit from your product?

Mainly the environment benefits from it. Our main focus of our cup is that it is edible, and reusable.

Hi Luis!

Great to see you in the Challenge. I'm curious to hear more about how you've been prototyping this idea. What materials have you been working with, and what's the process of development been like?

Looking forward to learning more!
