Idea Title

Idea Summary

In Brazil we recycle a lot and one innovative material is the recycled toothpaste cap, a very strong material, that may be able to support hot and cold temperatures without harming the user.

Please include a visual (can be either 2D or 3D) representation/prototype of your concept. (required)

When I was studying at Istituto Europeo di Design São Paulo, I came across this very interesting material, using recycled toothpaste cap. This material is made by EcoFour and is water resistant and its usability is vast.

It would be interesting to see a place for disposal of the caps inside a Starbucks made of this material, the same one used in your cup.

This solution addresses which of the following:

  • All of the Above
  • Reusable System
  • Other

How is your concept recoverable?

The cup may be an add-on at first, to compare with the current to-go fiber cup. As a user of the current systems Starbucks provided for Brazil, UK and Portugal, I still didn't find a cup that fits my needs.

How have you incorporated additional sustainability attributes (beyond recoverability) into your solution?

This material not only is recycleble, but helps underprivileged communities that collect the toothpaste caps.

What regions do you plan to address with your solution (and how will you accomplish this)?

There may be a test phase, to check if the product hits off, since this material is made in Brazil, for this phase could be tested in Brazil. As the capcup starts to take off, the model can be exported to other markets.

Describe your target market. Who will benefit from your product?

There isn't enough study to determine how the target market is going to respond and how the impact will be. But underprivileged communities and users will be more connected by the capcup, since it will light up a lamp inside users head about the materials we can use.

What is the current stage of development of your idea?

  • Research & Early Testing

What are the biggest challenges you are facing today? What are existing gaps in your solution?

The biggest challenge is that is on the ideation phase so no further study has been made to check if the product is going to hit off, although is filled with great insights.

Mentorship Needs (please select up to 3)

  • Materials and Technical Development
  • Engineering and Manufacturing
  • Supply Chain

Tell us about yourself and your team. What is your background and experience?

I did product design because I belive that we have to make our products and question how they are made. With an extracurricular course of design thinking and a masters in marketing management, I transported our "thinking" to other areas.

In what city are you located?

In what country are you located?

Please describe how becoming a Top Idea will support the growth of your concept.

By being a Top Idea, it seems that is going to give the project a better engajement through the promotion.
