VCU Innovate

There is a system set up so that customers may pour out their leftover coffee into it, which then is processed, filtered, and added to a nice decorative fountain in the coffee shop. The fountain functioning is dependent on customer's doing this collectively, so the fountain is bigger and better as more customer's use it. Then they can simply throw their cup into the bin set up next to the fountain. Pouring out the liquids allows for successful recycling of the bin's contents. The fountain would be emptied each night as the shop closes, so that it's growth could be seen and enjoyed each day while also not overwhelming the fountain's capabilities.

This solution addresses which of the following:

  • Hot / Cold Fiber Cup
  • Cup Lids
  • Straws
  • Cup Sleeve
  • Cup Liner
  • All of the Above
  • Reusable System

How is your concept recoverable?

Many places cannot have the content of their recycling bins recycled if there was any liquid remaining in even just one cup, by doing this it allows for the cups to be emptied before disposable into the bin thus preventing recycling bins being ruined.
