Idea Title

Mathematical modeling of a resource-saving cup.

Idea Summary

A mathematical device is developed which allows to optimize the shape of any cup in such a way that it will require a minimum amount of paper.

Company / Organization Name (if applicable)

I'm a private inventor.

Please include a visual (can be either 2D or 3D) representation/prototype of your concept. (required)

Previous studies have shown the possibility of real savings in paper within 5-10%.

This solution addresses which of the following:

  • Hot / Cold Fiber Cup

How is your concept recoverable?

It is known from geometry that the two cut cones may have the same volume at different sizes of the lateral surface areas. The program developed by us with a given discreteness sorts out all possible options and finds a variant with minimal paper consumption for a given volume of a cup.

How have you incorporated additional sustainability attributes (beyond recoverability) into your solution?

Our solution can be used at any plant for making paper cups. The only thing that will change - the cup will be a little lower and a little wider at the top. "More Conical". All the rest will remain unchanged. Simply, the plant will spend a few percent less paper to produce the same number of cups.

What regions do you plan to address with your solution (and how will you accomplish this)?

Our approach to designing a cup can be applied anywhere in the planet Earth.

Describe your target market. Who will benefit from your product?

From the introduction of a new form of cup everyone will win. Manufacturers will spend 5-10% less paper for making cups, and in case of cup impact on the environment, it will be, on the same percentage, less pollutting to the nature.

What is the current stage of development of your idea?

  • Research & Early Testing
  • Prototyping

What are the biggest challenges you are facing today? What are existing gaps in your solution?

My main problem is the lack of resources for full-scale work.

  • Business Model Development
  • Legal
  • Fundraising / Finance

Tell us about yourself and your team. What is your background and experience?

I'm a private inventor. I also tuttor classes in the Lviv Technological Lyceum. The student of this lyceum, Anastasiia Venchkovska, who is actually a laboratory assistant and presenter of the project at various competitions and exhibitions, help me

In what city are you located?

Lviv

In what country are you located?

Ukraine

What is your legal / organizational structure? (if applicable)

Please describe how becoming a Top Idea will support the growth of your concept.

We will work on your terms simply because there are no other options. If resources are invested in the project, they will be spent by the following prioritization: 1. Promotion of a new approach to designing paper cups at various exhibitions, contests and congresses. 2. Organization of small experimental production. 3. Development of optimized cups for specific customers.
