Our intention is to change consumption logic, proposing and using eco-sustainable products for food (and not only), stimulating customers to contribute to environmental protection. Producing and using biodegradable products means having a greater care of the planet and the environment, allowing the reduction of production and disposal volumes of conventional plastics, very polluting and difficult to perish, damaging especially for marine flora and fauna.      Therefore, the solution that Enyax proposes is fully in line with the eco-compatibility and sustainability ideas that the large multinationals are interested in, whose single-use products pose a constant threat to the environment.     We are talking about the Biodegradable Poly-Bi® additive. Poly-Bi® confirms its leadership in the field of various polymeric applications, specifically products created with polyethylene, polystyrene and polypropylene.    Thanks to this innovative technology for plastic biodegradation, Enyax is able to present as a project: a line of plastic cups, lids and straws, produced with the Poly-Bì® technology, fully reusable, recyclable and biodegradable, able to satisfy the delicate environmental requirements of the large production chains of cutlery and other disposable products, destined to a growing and alarming percentage of waste.

How is your concept recoverable?

Thanks to the constant commitment in terms of environmental protection, Enyax has succeeded in creating an eco-compatible alternative to traditional plastic without modifying its uses, characteristics and disposability, as well as reducing environmental impact. Obviously, the Poly-Bi® technology can also be used with recycled materials as both industrial and post-consumer waste. Choosing this solution means concretely giving an immediate environmental contribution and without changing the daily habits of citizens and producers, starting really to choose the choice of safeguarding our planet and our own future.

How have you incorporated additional sustainability attributes (beyond recoverability) into your solution?

The Poly-Bi® technology thanks to its eco-compatible features has obtained the TUV Rheinland Certification in reference to the ISO 14855 testing method for aerobic biodegradability and ISO 15985 for anaerobic biodegradability, ISO 14853 for biodegradability in waste water and ASTM D6691 for the biodegradability in marine waters. Defining that the product does not contain heavy metals, it is not phytotoxic and complies with the requirements of the DE 94/62 EC Directive.

What regions do you plan to address with your solution (and how will you accomplish this)?

Our goal is to reach out to the different parts of Europe that have obbligations towards biodegradable products. Another ambition is to reach out to middle eastern companies, as we already have contacts and a high demand for our product.

Describe your target market. Who will benefit from your product?

Enyax Srl is present in all of the most important markets thanks to the growing diversification of the final applications for Poly-Bi®. Numerous Poly-Bi products are made, including biodegradable shopping bags, waste collection bags, agricultural mulch films and disposable tableware. In fact, thanks to the versatility of Poly-Bi®, Enyax's clients and collaborating companies are able to transform it into a vast range of finished products. In addition, Enyax Srl provides its customers with the website www.poly-bi.com, with the aim of offering a web portal open to the experiences of the Italian and international partners of the company, in the main merchandise sectors.

Most producers of biodegradable plastic think our product is OXO chemical related, Enyax ensures that its technology, has no OXO chemical ingredients. All our biodegradable compounds are created from eco compatible and natural resources.

Becoming a Top Idea will help the growth of the concept that using biodegradable and Eco-compatible solutions will reduce the negative impact of plastic waste. Of course to have a significant amount of reduction, the percentages of usage have to be noticeable and since there is a lot of controversy on the subject, a late start in using eco-compatible resources would be better than no start at all.

An ordinary cardboard cup breaks down in the natural environment roughly in a year or thereabout. Approximately how the fallen leaves does, consisting of the same cellulose. In order for the new material for the production of cups to become a cost effective replacement of cardboard, it should decompose order faster, somewhere in a month, maybe two or three. This is at an average temperature of 15 degrees Celsius (according to NASA). But when we pour water near a boiling point, at a temperature of 95 degrees, into such cup , according to the rule of Svante August Arrhenius, all the chemical processes in it, including the self-decay of complex molecules, respectively, accelerate. The minimum acceleration will be somewhere 250 times, and the maximum will be about 65,000 times. That is, for a disposable cup that has been filled for at least an hour, and this is a real situation somewhere on a picnic, there is all the chances to pour out their content on the table at best , at worst, on himself or his electronic devices. Even if this cup was made a few days before that and was stored in a stock in perfect conditions.
Therefore, the question arises - how do you deal with such issue?

Hello Mr. Victor,
You seem to be talking about an ordinary cardboard cup, our solution is oriented towards a different direction.
Allow me to further explain myself:
The solution ideated by Enyax Srl for the Hot cup in this case, combines the mechanical qualities of EPS and the biodegradation "times" dictated by our innovative additive Poly-Bì.
We have started to develop a fiber cup, with a major percentage of EPS, expanded polystyrene resin, fiber and Poly-Bi technology, which indulges and accellerates the biodegradation process for items produced in EPS.

Thanks to Its established mechanical properties, we are sure that an EPS cup, Lid or container, will hold high temperatures and results more resistant than just regular cardboard.
