We run 3 web based gravure printing presses in Greensboro, NC. Each oress has multiple application units to apply solutions such as inks to paper to give the paper certain desired characteristics.

This solution addresses which of the following:

  • Hot / Cold Fiber Cup
  • Cup Liner

How is your concept recoverable?

Specialty inks made of compounds such as starches can adjust permeability and other characteristics of paper but are also recyclable and compostable unlike the current paper in coffee cups which is treated with a plastic.

How have you incorporated additional sustainability attributes (beyond recoverability) into your solution?

Gravure printing is a very efficient process and could be done without raising the cost of materials in the cup to a price that is not economical.
