In no more than 3 sentences, please tell us who your idea is designed for and how it reimagines the new life experience.

This idea is designed for the mothers themselves. Growing a new human is a stressful experience, but it's not unique. This idea would ensure that mothers, at all stages of the new life experience, have access to the words and support from those who walked that path just before them. Support from doctors and family is crucial, of course, but the finishing touch would be to have support from people who have gone through exactly what you're going through - and not decades ago, but mere months prior

At what stage is your idea?

  • Back of the Napkin Sketch: I came up with this concept and would love support in making it come to life!

What early, lightweight experiment might you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?

Issue a survey issues to mothers currently living the new life experience. Basically, I'd ask where they feel like they're getting plenty of support and empathy, and where they feel like they aren't getting enough.

What skills, input or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?

Input from actual mothers - I am not a mother.

This idea emerged from...

  • An Individual

Are you an expecting, new, or experienced mom?

  • no

Are you a healthcare practitioner?

  • no

Are you a current employee of UCB Pharmaceuticals or Sutter Health?

  • no

I love how this idea takes into consideration the emotional state of expecting mothers rather than just proposing something that would make things more convenient. However I am a little confused as to how this service would be delivered. Would it be an online service or something in person, who specifically would provide the support, and what would the nature of this support be?
