In no more than 3 sentences, please tell us who your idea is designed for and how it reimagines the new life experience.

Our idea is designed for vulnerable people suffering from malnutrition and chronic diseases. Malnutrition is responsible for more than half of all child deaths worldwide. The high number of people suffering from hunger remains unacceptable. The nutritional potential of the leaves but also of the seeds as sources of oil and flocculant to purify non-potable waters. So that each part of Moringa has virtues for man.
Problem: What problems does this project try to solve? In a rapidly growing world of people, concerned with poverty reduction, economic development for all, preserving natural resources and responding to climate challenges, promoting and developing agriculture, which is both remunerative, productive and productive. Respectful of the environment in all the territories, appear to us more than ever necessary. In recent years, the limits of action to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, the first Millennium Development Goal (MDG), have been demonstrated. Nearly 180 million children under five now have stunted growth and 55 million still suffer from wasting. About 850 million people are chronically undernourished. Malnutrition is responsible for more than half of all child deaths worldwide. The high number of people suffering from hunger remains unacceptable. The United Nations has made 2014 the World Year of Family Farming, and initiatives must be launched by developing countries to raise awareness among all farms of fortified organic crops. This research estimates that by 2025, there will be approximately 330 million diabetic patients worldwide. The World Health Organization's research estimates that 190 million people are suffering from diabetes worldwide. Sub-Saharan Africa, with a population of about 782 million people in 47 countries, is home to 36 of the poorest countries in the world. The region with the highest rates of malnutrition (Kennedy, 2011). Sub-Saharan Africa is the only major region in the world that has not progressed in terms of food security with more or less stagnant levels of production per capita in recent years (Spore, 2011a). Climate change presents a new major concern, which often interacts with or aggravates existing problems. Small-scale farmers in West Africa are already producing very little potential (Spore, 2011b) and poverty is a rural phenomenon in this region, but only agriculture determines the solution. As climate change becomes stronger and the world's population grows and the marketplace fluctuates, we must find ways to resist the shocks associated with it in order not to aggravate an already fragile situation. "Benin is one of the least developed countries in achieving progress in nutrition. Malnutrition maintains the cycle of poverty, keeps entire sections of the population vulnerable and threatens prosperity. It deprives Benin of its vital forces and hampers the development of the country, "said UNICEF Representative in Benin, Dr. Anne Vincent Indeed, in Benin, about 36% of children under 5 suffer from chronic malnutrition. Young women / mothers of fertile age are also affected, with 18% of newborns being overweight at birth with infant mortality rates at 67 ‰, infant and child mortality1 125 per thousand and maternal mortality to 397 per 100,000 live births. Solution: What is the solution? Be precise! If the link between malnutrition and soil degradation is a real problem, it may be an opportunity to imagine innovative solutions. Emphasis is placed on the essential aspects of the food supply chain and interactions between soils, agriculture, food and individuals to develop commercial systems that will improve both the quality of life of populations and the health of ecosystems. In this context, Moringa Oleifera, a fast-growing tree, represents a simple and very accessible solution to the agricultural challenges of tomorrow. We have done research to contribute to the formulation and development of an integrated production system respecting nature, and based essentially on bioimmune, zero-waste to obtain the best benefits of the miraculous tree Moringa oleifera prolific . We use any part of the raw material, the company produces a range of nutrients, bio fertilizers, moringa bios pesticides, cosmetics and a water treatment process. Moringa is an effective, affordable, easy and accessible solution to malnutrition and climate change, with a positive environmental, social and economic impact. This project, through the implementation and monitoring of pilot systems, will enable the development of simple, low cost and reproducible production and processing technologies in developing countries. The scientific approach through the validation of a certified quality process will allow the professionalisation of a new sector secured for man and respectful of the environment. For hundreds of millions of people, the threat of famine is linked to climate change. Planting trees, including the Moringa plantation, can play an important role in mitigating the effects of climate change. Because Moringa trees grow quickly and well in dry areas, they can play a role in combating desertification. The presence of long, derived roots makes Moringa resistant to periods of drought. Moringa can also grow in areas where strong winds and long periods of drought occur simultaneously, causing severe soil erosion. The nutritional potential of the leaves but also of the seeds as sources of oil and flocculant to purify non-potable waters. So that each part of Moringa has virtues for man. Moringa leaves, fruits, flowers, seeds, roots and bark possess either nutritional, therapeutic, or cosmetic dermo. This magical plant represents in Africa an immense opportunity of agricultural exploitation but also of economic lever for the local populations. Choice of moringa Moringa is a multi-purpose, drought resistant, fast-growing tree. This tree is attracting growing international interest as a nutritional supplement, flocculant for water treatment, cosmetic oil, vegetable, fodder, growth hormone, green manure and many other virtues. Moringa offers significant potential for diversification with high added value. 1. The leaves of Moringa Moringa Oleifera leaves in family culture have the triple advantage of having low production costs, being known to the majority of the population and potentially more available (an endogenous, sustainable and lasting solution, low technicality ). They also have the great advantage of being able to be the subject of a regular domestic family use. They have an exceptionally high nutrient content which makes them a potential asset for the fight against malnutrition in west Africa. • Thus, 100 g fresh Moringa Oleifera leaves are enough to cover: Between 30% and 100% of the recommended daily calcium intake (30% to 50% for adolescents, 40% to 60% for adults, children, pregnant or nursing mothers, 80 to 100% for children 3 years) ; Between 25% and 80% of the recommended daily iron intake (25% for • pregnant women, 40-60% for adolescents and women, 50-100% for men and children); • Theoretically 100 g of fresh leaves could cover 100% of the vitamin A needs (including pregnant and lactating women), but this depends very much on the conditions of use and preservation of the leaves. Indeed, vitamin A degrades with time, light and heat. In comparison, 10 g of dried leaf powder per day cover: For calcium: about 30% of the recommended daily intake for children from 6 months to 3 years; • 25% for children aged 4 to 9 and for adult women; 15% for adolescents or women over 55, For iron: about 30% of the recommended daily intake for children from 6 months to 12 years; • 15% for teenagers; 20% for men and women over 55; 12% for adult women and 8% for pregnant and lactating women, For vitamin A: 50 to 100% for all categories of population. • Even though the vitamin content decreases during drying, the leaf powder is still a very rich nutritional supplement. The leaves of Moringa are of great interest for forage, particularly for the small "box" breeding (poultry, small ruminants, pigs, donkeys). This represents an additional criterion of choice in the context of the food crisis in the Sahelian countries and constitutes important elements of security for these vulnerable categories of agriculture. For all these reasons Moringa leaf is a very nutritious, ecological, economical and especially locally available plant food. 2. Seeds of Moringa The oil extracted from its seeds is both a quality food oil and a raw material of interest to the cosmetic industry. The cake produced from the oil extraction shows flocculant and bactericidal capacities. Indeed, the high content of the seeds in polypeptides gives this meal the ability to form aggregates with various particles in suspension in 3. Flowers of Moringa Flowers can be used for the production of essential oils whose properties and main areas of application must be determined in the same way as health risks in case of misuse. 4. The pods, stems and roots of Moringa These components could be used as a source of raw material for the valorization of the productions coming from the wood waste of Moringa: Material recovery: crushed wood. • Energy recovery: biofuel based on wood, used alone or mixed with biomass. • Agronomic valorization: composting. MoringAfrique® practices a "zero waste" policy: Thus, extracts from moringa seeds and waste from moringa leaves are used for the treatment of wastewater and for soil fertilization. - The waste from the sorting of leaves, stem and seeds of moringa is recycled for the manufacture of organic fertilizers also take part in the fertilization of the soil. This allows no chemical fertilizers to be added. D. A .K. Bioproducts MoringAfrique® summarizes: "We must be careful not to lose anything and always wonder what it can be used for." The excreta of the animals, the unused vegetable residues are transformed by methanisation into renewable energies, thus feeding the lighting in our processing unit. Here are some projections and possible use of moringa for our company: Cropping Alley: Due to their rapid growth, long rotating root, some lateral roots, shade and minimal production of high protein biomass, Moringa trees are well suited for use in intercropping systems. Forage: The leaves are easily eaten by cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and rabbits. The leaves can also be used as feed for chickens and carp and other fish. Biogas: The Moringa leaves provide excellent material for the production of biogas. Domestic Cleaner: Crushed leaves are used in some areas of Nigeria to scrub kitchen utensils or to clean walls. Dye: The wood gives a blue dye that has been used in Jamaica and Senegal. Fencing: Moringa trees can be used as life supports for fences around gardens. Fertilizer: The meal can be used as a fertilizer rich in plant proteins. Foliar Nutrients: Leaf extract juice can be used to make a foliar nutrient capable of increasing yields up to 30%. Green Fertilizer: Cultivated intensively and then buried in soil, Moringa can act as a natural fertilizer for other crops. Gum: The gum produced from a cut tree trunk has been used in the printing of banners, making medicines and as condiments bland to taste. Honey Clarifier: Powdered seeds can be used to clarify honey without boiling. Seed powders can still be used to clarify sugar cane juice. Honey Producer: Flowers are a good source of nectar for honey bees. Medicine: Each part of the tree is widely used to make a wide variety of traditional medicines. Ornamental: In many countries, Moringa trees are planted in gardens and along avenues like ornamental trees. Prevention of Plant Diseases: Incorporating Moringa leaves into the soil prior to planting can prevent the melting of seedlings, a disease identified in young plants. Pulp: Soft and spongy wood, made of mediocre wood, but wood pulp is very suitable for making newspaper and writing paper. Cordage: The bark of the tree can be beaten in a fiber for the production of ropes or carpets. Tanin: Bark and gum can be used in the tanning of hides. Water Purification: Almonds of powdered seeds act as natural flocculant, able to further clarify the most cloudy water. Starting from a few major principles, answers are reflected, solutions proposed, action in the face of the great challenges that await our planet and which already impact Africa. social impact • In West Africa, where Moringa has become very popular both as food and as agricultural production, we buy our Moringa from a producer group associated with a nursery for 0- to 2-year-old orphans and a clinic. After using spirulina, the association that runs this set turned to Moringa to improve children's health. Having become experts in this field, D.A.K. Bioproducts MoringAfrique® provides training on the production and processing of Moringa. This grouping is therefore one of the best sources of Moringa in West Africa. Most of the production is consumed by children, and MoringAfrique® only buys the surplus available during the rainy season. The money earned by the consortium contributes to the continuation of the supply of the orphanage in Moringa. • Plant 5,000 Moringa trees and train 10 women (1 per village) who will cultivate the land and harvest, dry and grind the leaves of Moringa. These women will accompany and follow the 250 families of the target group who will use the Moringa powder. The plantation will produce more powder than the needs of 250 families. The remainder will be sold on the local market to generate additional revenue. • We have already received 500 evaluations for the quality of our products and services. • In our last health campaign on January 20th on the theme "Stop ignorance and fight diabetes", we have created awareness and more than 700 people have subscribed to our ambassadors in this endeavor. For the future we want to have more impact, to make more awareness in the most disadvantaged cities on how morality can be used as a sustainable source of food. This is how we developed a mobile application (MoringAfrique) to sensitize more people to the virtues of moringa and the benefits of our products and services. • Tackle malnutrition, especially of children and infants in 10 villages in Benin (about 2,000 children between 0 and 7 years old), by introducing a dietary supplement to be cultivated and processed. Overproduction provides additional income. • Today, in the countries of West Africa where Moringa grows, we have trained women and mothers to cook with Moringa powder to stop malnutrition. The health results are convincing because a few grams consumed per day make it possible to correct nutritional deficiencies. All parts of the plant, from roots to flowers, are used in Ayurvedic medicine. The medicinal properties of moringa, particularly against diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases and cancer have been confirmed by numerous scientific research (see www.moringanews.org). Google Traduction pour les entreprises :Google Kit du traducteurGadget Traduction Environnement Impact • Drinking water is a major health issue for populations, particularly in developing countries. Simple and inexpensive methods of water treatment are an essential criterion for process sustainability in these countries. This is the strength of Moringa (Moringa oleifera), a tree that grows in Africa whose seeds are used for the first stage of water treatment. D.A .K Bioproducts MoringAfrique® has developed a recycling mechanism using extracts from the moringa seeds to purify the water from the well, thus allowing villagers to have permanent access to drinking water. The seeds of Moringa have a very interesting flocculating power. This means that once they are poured into a contaminated liquid, they precipitate the impurities thus making it possible to eliminate them much more easily and 100% biologically. "It's nice to see how the basic interactions of molecules can play a role in solving practical problems. Understanding the process could allow for further developments in water purification with products that are local and environmentally friendly. • We work closely with our nonprofit partners in Benin and Ghana to provide training on how best to develop moringa and the use of natural organic fertilizer based on recycled moringa leaves to improve production at The local scale. • This project aims to help reforest West African countries with drought-tolerant moringa trees while providing African smallholders with access to the growing market of moringa leaf powder. Our mission "Doing more, doing better and loving to do it" is the motto of the house and the one that best expresses its realistic and pragmatic vision of Responsible Development. At what stage is your idea?

  • Prototyping: I have done some small tests or experiments with prospective users to continue developing my idea.

What early, lightweight experiment might you try out in your own community to find out if the idea will meet your expectations?

In our last health campaign on January 20th on the theme "Stop ignorance and fight diabetes", we have created awareness and more than 700 people have subscribed to our ambassadors in this endeavor. For the future we want to have more impact, to make more awareness in the most disadvantaged cities on how morality can be used as a sustainable source of food. This is how we developed a mobile application (MoringAfrique) to sensitize more people to the virtues of moringa and the benefits.

What skills, input or guidance from the OpenIDEO community would be most helpful in building out or refining your idea?

Any help and suggestions will be welcomed, in terms of management and production techniques to improve our idea. We also need advice on international regulations and certification to export our products around the world.

Hi Divin!

Thank you for posting. Can I just check something? Are you seeking support for the production and manufacturing of the moringa plant or the development of the MoringAfrique app?

Hi Kate! may for your question,
The support will allow us to install a semi industrial plant. And we will then develop a mobil app to sensitize à max of people.
