Reading the "keep on moving" post reminded me about a recent conversation with my mother-in-law about her daily walks.
She lives in Florida for part of the year and walking each morning, at 8:00, along the beach with a group of friends in their 60s and 70s. However, when spending the summer in Illinois, she tends to walk less. She doesn't have the same group of friends and the same regular schedule set up.
Walking is a good way to keep moving and stay active that's accessible for many people, assuming they're physically able. It's inexpensive, low impact, and young and old people can do it together. But, people need a place or trail to walk, and ideally people to walk with.
So, it makes me wonder how we might encourage or enable people to walk more?
