The learning that happens on a working farm is powerful for all parties. I don't think there's a better environment to see so many different "subjects" at work - biology, geography, history, even English (when you're writing a poem amongst your corn stalks).



The schools that I've seen that have farms on them use them well and the students really enjoy working on them. They can also become hubs for the community as parents get involved.

Great idea. Here's a university that has developed a 40 hectare farm - they connect to the community and have created a farm market: http://www.landfood.ubc.ca/ubcfarm
