The Brief process can be easily clicked through so that users can switch from each stage, idea, feedback etc. I colour coded each to make it more easily understandable and incorporated a circular symbol to denote the amount of time you have to contribute to each stage.

Why do you want to be OpenIDEO's Visual and User Experience Designer?
I have lead UX design projects and I am used to working in diverse teams and getting best out of everyone. With every new project I push myself to learn new skills. I used this opportunity to learn the Principle animation software. I only had 2 days to complete this task as I wasn't aware of the challenge until quite late. Hopefully this demonstrates my eagerness to learn and try new things which is what I think the OpenIdeo community is all about.

What did you learn when developing the deliverables in response to the design brief?
I thought about this brief from the new users perspective. There is a lot of information for new users to take in, especially on the briefing page. I realised that the list of information is quite overwhelming. I tried to re-organise the information in a more interactive and fun way in a split screen design in order to engage users with a lot of dense but necessary information.
I also took the time to follow the design process focusing on the user perspective rather than jumping straight in.
I chose a split screen design to give the brief a more exploratory experience
I followed a 2 day quick and dirty design sprint process which began with mapping out the brief
I then tested out the current status quo first with - Home page testing/ mapping
Briefing page testing/mapping
User Story - with painpoints highlighted
I used my own experiences and painpoints as a new user of the site
Now the fun part, Ideation - crazy eights!
I always prototype on paper before moving in to digital. It helps me work out the obvious kinks and is much less time intensive than going straight in to digital
I chose to use a timeline so that users can clearly follow the linear process of each brief from idea to impact. I colour coded each so that it is easy for users to know at what stage the challenge is at.
I was inspired by another member of the community to use a circular symbol to demonstrate the passing of time so that users are aware there is a time limit to each stage. Each is colour coded so that the user knows which stage they are at. The call to action button remains the colour of the active phase
I follow an iterative design process with users at the heart of design decisions. I would have liked to have a bit more user testing done but I'll let the community be my feedback for next iterations. I have had fun with this task and pushed myself in to trying new things (split screen and principle prototyping) I look forward to feedback so I can continue to learn.
