Reach Out For Empathy Centered Design.

I believe in diversity, I believe in hope, and my contribution was creating a design that merges these ideas together.

Reach out is a poster that utilizes three universally recognized symbols, the light bulb, Planet Earth, and the heart. Each symbol represents a wide variety of things to people all over the world, but my intention was to represent ideas and universal empathy. Design and creativity surpasses borders, hate, and violence. Reach out represents people from all over the world coming together to foster innovation and design for a better tomorrow.

Please share a link to your portfolio I would like you to see my Senior Project called LAVAM. It has been once of my top favorite projects I've designed. Also, I would like you to see Dot, a group project focused on traffic in Los Angeles, CA.

Why do you want to be OpenIDEO's Visual and User Experience Designer?

I have over 7 years working alongside and directly with people of my community. I have a passion for helping others, and making a positive impact. I believe in Ideos' mission of putting people first in each step of the design process. Furthermore, I would love the opportunity to join a collaborative team that understands the value of creating one-of-a-kind products that truly make an impact in the lives of many people.

How many years of experience do you have?

  • Less than 3 years of experience

How did you hear about this challenge?

I applied for a Summer internship with Ideo, and I received an email a few days ago notifying me that applications for the position were still being reviewed. There is where I saw that Ideo had an opening for a 3-month contract position for a Visual and User Experience Designer.

What did you learn when developing the deliverables in response to the design brief?

I learned that when you believe in your designs creativity begins to flow out naturally. In addition, it re-affirmed that great design start with empathy.
