This is the SMART CHILD paper wallet exported into mobile wallets which will give the immunization status of each and every child even if there are not visiting the same location for the vaccination again. The child can go to any vaccination centre for vaccination and the vaccine token will be transferred to SMART CHILD wallet. The immunization status of the child will be updated in Blockchain which can be noticed by anyone having a copy of that wallet. It will help to identify the defaulters.
This is the mobile wallet we use to transfer the vaccine from one location to another. It will take only a few seconds for this operation and the transaction will happen immediately and the entry will be made in Blockchain as an immutable record with time stamp.
This is a prototype of Dashboard which will facilitate to monitor vaccine at any level at any time for any given period of time using Blockchain technology.
These are some of the real Sample ledgers in Ethereum Blockchain which were created for training purpose. These immutable ledgers will give the full history of vaccine movement through these locations for any period of time. Any open source Etherium mobile daps can be used to read vaccine stock in real time at any given time.

UNICEF MENA regional office aims to apply Blockchain technology to track the vaccine from the manufacturer to the child.
The vaccines are tokenised in public Blockchain and the movement of vaccines through different levels are managed using paper and mobile wallets and visualised in real time using mobile application.
Explain the innovation (2,500 characters)
The UNICEF SMART CHILD initiative is a solution to reach unreached children with potent vaccine and validate the process using blockchain technology. It will avoid stock-outs and effectively trace the vaccine from the manufacturer to the child. It will remove major delays and cost to manage the vaccine and will reduce stockout and vaccine wastage through real-time monitoring solutions and allow the use of other advanced technologies like radio-frequency identification (RFID) and the Internet of Things (IoT) to interact with the blockchain and improve vaccine management practices in the long run.
The major focus of this initiative is to take the potent vaccine to the unimmunized children around the world through monitoring their immunization status using blockchain technology and identifying the individual defaulters to take immediate action.
All the vaccine are tokenised in public blockchain and the tokenised vaccine are moved along the facilities in Blockchain. The vaccine will be managed in Blockchain and the stock will be monitored in real time using mobile which will reduce the stock out of vaccine for a greater extent. It also will monitor the vaccination status of the children using their unique identity.
The children; especially from urban areas will be registed in Blockchain. The tokenised vaccine will be transferred to the respective child's wallet during vaccination session which will allow identifying defaulters in Blockchain irrespective of the location from where the children are being vaccinated.
This tool is already implemented on a limited scale in Syria and Iraq where the real-time vaccine management and monitoring have been demonstrated. The irreversible records in blockchain have already been demonstrated in Blockchain. The paper wallets have been created and exported to mobile wallets and tested. As per the nature of Blockchian, no failures happened so far.
The urbanised population are facing different challenges especially highly mobile therefore the children will not strict with once health facility to obtain services, therefore, it is not possible to identify the defaulters through a regular paper-based system. The registration of children in Blockchain during their first visit and monitoring their vaccination status continuously though mobile will eliminate this problem and will allow identifying unimmunized children irrespective of the place from where the chidren going for vaccination.
Which part(s) of the world does this innovation target?
Currently, the tool is being used in the MENA region as a pilot in limited locations, but there is no limitation for adopting this tool in any part of the world as vaccine tokens are created in public blockchain. All the applications which are being used are open source.
Who will work alongside your organization in the project idea? (1,000 characters)
The major focus of the tool is to support the government to visualise the vaccine stocks at different levels in real time in a decentralised approach. The vaccines are tokenised in public blockchain and managed and monitored using paper and mobile wallets. This will allows tracking of vaccine from manufacturer to child. The tool is being tested in some countries.
Based on their initial experience the tool will be further improved to be able to scale in any part of the world with minimum efforts. We are working with a private company and building a more user-friendly decentralised application (DAps) on the top of the blockchain platform.
The project is going to be in three phases and currently, we are in the first phase to monitor the vaccines from national levels to health facilities level in real time; however, the tool allows monitoring the vaccine at all levels even now and tests are being carried out at other levels at this phase.
How is your idea unique? (750 characters)
We have been working with different tools to support countries to manage their vaccine at different levels. Most of the government adopt a low scale excel based solution and some are using web-based solution. Lack of visibility of vaccine stock at all levels in real time through current tools is making stock out of the vaccines inevitable as none of the current tool giving the possibility of monitoring the vaccine in real-time at all levels.
The blockchain-based solution allows tracking of vaccines in real time with minimum resources; just need a mobile phone to implement this tool at any levels.
This is more secured, immutable, trusted, transparent but anonymous which gives more trust to the partners.
