Describe what you intend to do and how you'll do it in one to two sentences (required 350 Characters)

Vaccine Network for Disease Control aims to create a community of individuals in urban areas who are passionate and influential to advocate for on-time and complete vaccination. This is in collaboration with health workers at the primary health care centers, local government and state government level.

Explain the innovation (2,500 characters)

The project was designed to stimulate community members to solve the problem of low immunization coverage in urban areas. Presently in the FCT, there are pockets of Internally displaced persons’(IDP) camp; mostly people that escaped insurgency in the Northeast, they are therefore highly mobile. Due to this, large number of their children born into this circumstance either looses out completely on immunization or fails to complete the immunization routine. It is worth of note, that some IDP do not go into camps, some go to relatives or friends in the FCT mostly temporarily. It is therefore difficult to keep track of these set of people. The project engages strong influential people who seek to contribute their own quota in developing the society but don’t know how. There will be a call through media for people living within the Federal capital territory to fill out a form in order to indicate their interest in identifying and mobilizing highly mobile families with children within the age-group for routine immunization in order to improve immunization coverage and completion. This is a pool of game-changers that involves the influential people described as above, health workers from primary health care centers at the local government level to the board at the state level. The purpose of this pool is for free adequate and quality information exchange which is significant towards improving immunization outcomes in the FCT. The project thrives on smart phones already owned by the game changers. The most important part of this technology deployed is the calendar and reminder. Families will be mapped and allocated to each game-changer for follow up to ensure the children in that family are immunized adequately. This feeds into a central system (pro and post) in order to evaluate impact of the project. The state primary health care board will be fed with this data for adequate planning and provision of complete immunization services.
