Describe what you intend to do and how you'll do it in one to two sentences (required 350 Characters)

TheSignForward aims to monitor immunization in Congo, focused on densely populated urban areas through a web platform that allows health structures to register, identify and track all the people who need to be vaccinate, starting from childhood. GAVI will be the central partner to support the request for vaccines besides central hospitals and NGOs.

Explain the innovation (2,500 characters)

In 2018 the Democratic Republic of the Congo was hit by a terrible Ebola epidemic. In this circumstance was tested a new method of administering the vaccine, "the ring vaccination". The process works by vaccine the people at highest risk and then those who have been in contact with them and then proceeding to vaccinate any person, around the affected by the disease to enlarge the ring. By breaking the transmission chain it is possible to create a kind of buffer around infected people, preventing the spread of the disease. What if Gavi have access this information before the contagion? With our project Yemaja we accepted the challenge of designing a system that can identify, visualize and monitor the immunization status of the Congo's population by web platform that will help to prevent infections. Yemaja is the fulcrum of a wider system in which more actors converge: parents, the main responsible for the health of their children, the doctor and the volunteers of the NGOs constantly committed to ensuring public health. Thanks to this new platform the doctor in the hospital and the volunteer, during their missions, will be able to acquire all the information on the immunization status of the family by creating a personalized digital calendar for each individual registered in the system. Through a simple SMS (also email for those with internet access) parents can be notified when their children have to make new vaccines. Prevention is the first strength of our project. But the real innovative aspect of the project is that the family unit is the center of other relationships, and therefore thanks to the information that the two parents will want to provide on the vaccination status of their relatives and acquaintances, even geographically distant, it will be possible to identify and keep track of any virus transmission chains. The exchange of this valuable information with other hospitals and NGOs participating in the project will make it possible to stop the infection immediately. The Yeamja platform is not meant to be a closed system, is for the community and is at its service: for this reason anyone can access it freely to register their data in order to protect himself and his family. Finally, the data collected will be translated into a constantly updated map that displays the country's immunization status in real time. Prevention, system, timeliness (real time) are the strengths of the project.

Who will work alongside your organization in the project idea? (1,000 characters)

We think that a human centered approach could be the key for a success improvement of Yemaja project. Starting to involve directly doctors / health workers and volunteers of NGOs operating in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. With their precious support we will be able to validate and iterate our process of acquiring the information in order to constitute and increase the database to monitoring the immunization. Observing and sharing the idea with doctors and volunteers at work will be the first step to understanding the effectiveness of Yemaja idea. Interviewing patients will allow us to increasingly align our project with their real needs so the project can be useful to all the community. We chosen Congo area but the project could be scaled in other world regions with the same needs.

How is your idea unique? (750 characters)

Idea was born with the intent of reversing the negative concept of virality:the speed with which a virus is usually spread and sowing death is the same with which, thanks to the virtuous word of mouth system, we will be able to save lives. The prevention chain that triggers from an individual who registers his state of health and the health of the rest of his family is based on an unavoidable and valid aspect for any individual:the human relationship and the care for their family. The success of the Ring vaccination is known by all and this is why we want to exploit the peculiarities of digital devices to translate this flow of data from one network to another so as to visually process it and have feedback on the vaccination status in country

I really like this concept, and I know that WordPress web design can make any benevolent project look better. I mean, we use Phoenix Web Design Studio, and they have made more than one nonprofit look great They even gave us this outline to fill in. It works!
