By adding a section called RESOURCES (see image for conceptual mock-up and features) which includes provision of (1) visuals and (2) information, the community and would-be participants may feel more empowered to express ideas more visually and perhaps with more substantive information in addressing challenges.

Features would include:

1. Visuals: icons and photos, templates (powerpoint), links to sites with free visuals and services, and ability to share their own creations or links
2. Information: the challenge brief, a "library" where people add information on the specific challenges, external links to popular and substantive data sites, and ability to add to the library

What kind of social impact does this concept achieve?

This concept aims at empowering Open IDEO community members with some visual and informational resources to help produce and effectively share ideas to concepts that have social impact. More than just pictures, visual explanations and even crude prototypes help others see the vision of the contributor.

What skills are required to take this concept forward?

1. Collecting Website URLs for sites that provide free pictures, illustrations, and services 2. Collecting Website URLs for popular data bases and information sites (e.g., UNESCO, etc.) 3. Web development skills (to add the sections) 4. The Sketch Pad (as others have discussed/shared) would require either licensing from third party or creating) 5. Volunteers to help populate the links pages and "library"

How do you envision this concept being supported financially?

1. Cost is primarily in setting up the Resource page with tabs and links, in addition to the coding to allow image display and search. 2. Sketch Pad could be a feature that members can pay for collectively (i.e., donations) or via subscription

Hi Sina,
What's the state of play with realising this concept?

I have a couple of resources to offer:

1. A working prototype to provide a few of the other concepts from this challenge - geolocator, gather (events manager) and IDEATOR endorsed nascent challenges - its located at http://www.experiment.vacau.com ; and

2.CMap Tools from http://cmap.ihmc.us which is a Concept Mapping tool - OpenIDEO could host a server for ideator generated CMaps.
I have used it to synthesize a concept map of the relationships between some of the concepts in the current Amnesty challenge and stored it in the public cmaps repositories - its viewable at

Paul
