Role of Ambassadors
• Recruit new members - actively promote and share with their network about what OpenIDEO does and its contribution of making social impact. Encourage people to participate or introduce OpenIDEO to potential challenge sponsors.
• Connect new members with the community. By introducing OpenIDEO newbies to various functions and ways to contribute, Ambassadors help welcome and inform our newest members.

• Share OpenIDEO tips. There can be an Ambassador page where they can share knowledge about the community, any local OpenIDEO communities, regional specific social events.
• Participate actively. Ambassadors are regular contributors to the OpenIDEO challenges, who have a lot of knowledge and experience to share.

Incentives

• Ambassador points - points can be used to exchange for OpenIDEO goodies (this need to be further determined and brainstormed)

How would the status be earned

What kind of social impact does this concept achieve?

This will lead to individual, collective and community impact. By promoting OpendIDEO, it helps gather more participants to contribute their ideas and thoughts to making social impacts. Particularly in non-English speaking countries, OpenIDEO may not penetrate certain countries/regions yet, Ambassadors will help drive some of that.

What skills are required to take this concept forward?

Great communicator. Committed to social change and contributing to OpenIDEO community. Event organizing.

How do you envision this concept being supported financially?

For individual Ambassador, there is no initial financial cost. For corporate Ambassador, they can pledge to sponsor a NGO for a challenge that they are not able to afford to sponsor themselves.

Obviously we can all be ambassadors in a small way. So I like the original idea of earning official recognition. Sometimes in terms of skills, connections and financial capacity it is not merely what we bring ourselves to OpenIDEO but what those we introduce can also contribute. Perhaps a range of 'recognised' pathways to Ambassadorship would be appropriate - elected, commited and through results.
