We normally celebrate days like friendship day or go for holidays with friends to celebrate being together. There are also several reality/game shows on TV that invite buddies or families to be a team and take part. Can we create a forum 'Buddies for a cause" where groups of friends are encouraged to come together and celebrate being together and working for a cause? It could be groups of friends or in countries like India families and extended families. So you have a group identity and you spend your time realising one cause together. Could eve be a contest. Could be aided by local area OpenIdeo moderator and facilitated by platforms like facebook and public photobooks to showcase and share your Buddy effort to the world. This could be something very memorable for lifetime for a group of loves ones. (And it could even be covered live on camera to add a reality zing to it, people in India these days love being on camera, so that might make it more exciting! A series of them on utube perhaps)

What kind of social impact does this concept achieve?

Collective and community.Having memorable momens of life with your buddies

What skills are required to take this concept forward?

Group organisation, platforms for volunteer registeration, platforms for showcasing and celebrating/recognising publicly the group effort.

How do you envision this concept being supported financially?

Low cost, probably with the help of a media sponsor and some tech support

Interesting thoughts, Sabina! Given your thoughts around local moderators – you may want to join this up to Concepts like:

using the Update button on the right of your post, then the Build Upon feature.

Great to see you embracing the challenge! You might even want to hold a brainstorm session in the weekend with friends using our Brainstorm-in-a-Box toolkit: http://bit.ly/impact-storm We'd love to see what you come up with :^)

Hi Meena, Thanks for sharing. Yes, I will read up and add the concepts you mentioned. The brainstorm in a box toolkit seems like a lot of fun and will look forward to trying it out. Ciao :)
