Kere Kere's response to the climate serves to produce a building which directly impacts on the ability to hold school classes. Through responding to thermal and lighting conditions in Burkina Faso, the building is comfortable and appealing to users. This is perhaps best summed up by a young student who observed how 'beautiful the floating roof is', allowing for comfortable air ventilation in the hot climate. This is a huge difference from the conditions before in which the heavy rains on the roof hindered the ability of teaches to effectively be heard in the classroom.

A lovely example of locally relevant architectural design, Charlotte. Here's another one of a community built school in Nepal: http://bit.ly/9CFlgA
