Award winning Bangladeshi boat schools take books, technology & teachers to where they are needed.
Serving some of the poorest and most marginalised communities in Bangladesh where transport is limited and schools get flooded at monsoon time.

A fleet of flat-bottomed boats was designed, all made with locally available materials, that make their way through shallow rivers and canals to bring a range of educational services & renewable energy supplies to water-side families. The boats generate all the electricity they need to deliver primary education, libraries, training in sustainable agriculture, health advice, mobile phone & Internet access + battery charging facilities for solar lanterns. Also worth noting that the initiative doesn't stop with children and provides education to many in the community – teacher training through to the elderly. I like this aspect as it encourages general community resilience.
