Buy a book, Give a book!

A donation program where when you buy a book, the same book gets donated to a developing world school. You get a book and by paying extra, you get to make a difference.

Similar to the One Laptop Per Child program, where you could buy an OLPC and the cost means another one is sent to the developing world. This could work with book stores or Amazon on educational books. Buy paying extra for your book, a twin book is sent to a child in need.

Could also work with digital books - when you buy a digital book, a physical copy is donated to schools.

Who would implement this?

  • A big company
  • NGOs and Foundations

Those who have, give. Those who need, receive

Local Need. Enterprising Schools has identified key areas of need for Affordable Private Schools. What local learning need(s) does this concept address?

  • English language learning (speaking, reading, writing)
  • Math learning
  • Libraries

Great challenge. I like the idea that "buy a book, give a book". Actually, i am not a book reader because i think buying a book might cost more than reading something online via the internet. However, sometimes i do wish to buy certain books because i want to keep it for the future reading. Anyway, i may try "buy a book, give a book".
