In some parts of the world, getting the medicines people need into their hands is a huge problem. This is particularly true in places where transportation systems do not exist or are unreliable, as in many parts of the vast African continent. There, one health care worker can be responsible for up to 20,000 people spread over many miles of harsh terrain - and many men, women, and children die each day simply because they cannot be reached.
Riders for Health's vision is of a world in which no one will die of an easily preventable or curable disease because barriers of distance, terrain or poverty prevent them from being reached. It's a non-profit organization that has established a system of two- and four-wheeled vehicles to take medical personnel and supplies where they are needed.

I love this project. Oxfam (who I work for have done similar things). I put a concept up around that in the last IDEO project I was in - it was about connecting them up using mobile phones.
