Throw and Grow: Harvesting the forgotten corners of cities

Create compostable vegetable bombs that engage children in sowing vegetables all over cities and the countryside. Imagine pockets of veggies springing up in unexpected places transforming wastelands and barren patches - you could communicate the aesthetic value of vegetables alongside the nutritional whilst having fun in the process.

Great idea. The 'guerilla gardening' thing is awesome. As is the instant gratification of throwing something and watching it smash. I think the trick is to then keep the kid engaged on their impact spot for the entire growing season. Maybe an RFID tag embedded in the grenade will mark it's spot via GPS and monitor sun, water, soil, etc. info. Then the kid can chart locations of seed bombs on a map and receive regular emails about conditions throughout the growing season. Interesting to think about!
